Free flour scheme, major progress in NAB investigation, audit started

LAHORE: There has been a major progress in the NAB investigation regarding the free flour scheme in Punjab, as the Auditor General of Pakistan Department has started the audit of the free flour distribution after a request for assistance from the NAB.

The Punjab Information Technology Board and Food Department have provided all the records to the Auditor General’s Office, the audit officers said, including the number of wheat issued to the flour mills, the number of flour bags produced, the number of bags sent and received and distributed. Audit of flour bags has been started at the distribution center level.

According to the sources, the NAB officials have also decided to do random verification of the people who have received free flour. From the free flour distribution data of PITB, select the people who have received free flour and send them an SMS. will be done in which the person taking the free flour will confirm whether he has received 3 bags of free flour or not.

During the NAB inquiry, it has also been revealed that the administration of all the districts collected a donation of Rs.10 per bag from the flour mills. According to the amount of free flour distributed in the district, the district administration received this amount. This amount was received from Flourmills to meet the expenses of the free flour distribution centres.

Out of the amount taken from the flour mills, distribution centers set up in private buildings, awnings and fans were rented. At the rate of Rs 10 per bag, Rs 439 crore has been collected from the flour mills.

According to the sources, there is a dispute between various deputy commissioners of Punjab and flour mills on more than 1.6 lakh bags.

In some districts including Lahore, flour mills were banned from producing private flour during this period and were told to prepare and supply as much free flour as possible.

Because the top officials used to set the daily target that so many bags are to be distributed today.

According to the sources, the district administration and the food department have not yet provided government wheat to the mills in exchange for free flour prepared from private wheat.
