KARACHI: Pakistan Flour Mills Association has asked for permission to import wheat after the provincial authorities put a stop to wheat procurement.

Pafma has sought permission to import one million tonnes of wheat. PAFMA South Zone Chairman Chaudhry Amir Abdullah said in this regard that we have requested the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to allow the import of one million tonnes of wheat, which is in progress.

He further informed that the imported wheat will cost up to Rs 85-90 per kg, while local wheat is available up to Rs 125 per kg. Will be.
Chaudhry Amir Abdullah questioned that the Prime Minister had claimed that wheat is a bumper crop, why is wheat not available in the market despite this? He said that the reason for this is that the hoarders are active and storing wheat due to government patronage.

He said that the governments of Sindh and Punjab are not allowing the flour mills to buy wheat, while hoarders have been given an open exemption, if this policy continues, the prices of flour will increase further.

Chaudhry Aamir demanded that the government declare wheat as a national subject instead of a provincial one, flour mills should be allowed to purchase wheat during the production season, he demanded that flour mills should be allowed to import wheat throughout the year, so that flour The mills could manufacture flour and other products and export them.
