KARACHI: MD, CEO Syed Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the water board has debts of 12 billion to various provincial and federal institutions.
MD, CEO Water Board Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed informed the journalists about the completed and ongoing projects of the Water Board at the North East Karachi Filter Plant in Saadi Town,
and said that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act As soon as the Act comes into force, it will be ensured that the financial recovery of the Water Board is improved.
He said that a digital complaint center is being introduced for immediate redressal of complaints related to water and sewage for common citizens, besides,
facilities are being improved by outsourced control at the town level, in 26 towns in Karachi. Eligible contractors will perform these duties under the auspices of the Water Corporation.

Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said that the recovery will be outsourced at the district level to increase revenue while the water board has liabilities of 12 billion to various provincial and federal institutions,
and 38 billion to bulk and retail consumers. The amount received from the defaulters will be paid first to the employees towards the dues.
Water Board officials including COO Water Board Engineer Asadullah Khan were present on the occasion. The CEO Water Board further said that under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act,
the Water Board is empowered to collect arrears from various institutions and individuals. Special powers have been given and water will be provided at subsidized rates to the poor, slum and suburban residents of the city.
He said that under the Corporation Act, separate police stations will be established for the Water Board which will help the Water Board in preventing incidents like water theft, line breaking etc.
